Purpose of Agreement

Idaho GSP is committed to the responsible breeding and preservation of the German Shorthaired Pointer (GSP). This contract is designed to ensure that all dogs bred by Idaho GSP receive appropriate lifelong care and are protected from indiscriminate breeding. The goal is to uphold the breed’s exceptional health, temperament, and versatility.

The Buyer acknowledges that this puppy represents years of selective breeding and is of significant value to both parties.

2. Purchase Terms

The Buyer agrees to pay the agreed purchase amount to the Seller for one purebred, registerable German Shorthaired Pointer. The Seller guarantees that the puppy is purebred and eligible for registration with the American Kennel Club (AKC). The AKC registration application will be provided at the time of delivery.

3. Veterinary Health Guarantee

The Buyer has three (3) business days from the date of pickup to have the puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian.

- If the veterinarian identifies a life-threatening genetic or health condition, the Buyer must provide written documentation from the examining vet.
- Upon verification, the Buyer will be placed at the top of the waiting list for a replacement puppy of the same sex and quality from the next available litter.
- The original puppy and AKC paperwork must be returned at the Buyer’s expense, and the puppy must not have been injured or neglected.

If the Buyer chooses to treat the condition rather than return the puppy, Idaho GSP will reimburse up to $100 toward veterinary expenses upon receipt of the original bill. All other costs remain the Buyer’s responsibility.

4. Health Maintenance Requirements

The Buyer agrees to:
- Maintain annual veterinary checkups and heartworm testing.
- Follow all vaccination protocols per A.V.M.A. guidelines.
- Idaho GSP provides the first vaccines at 5 and 7 weeks of age.
- Booster vaccines are required every 4 weeks until 16 weeks of age.
- Keep vaccinations and rabies shots current according to state law.
- Administer heartworm prevention regularly where recommended by a veterinarian.
- Provide proper housing, including a fenced yard or kennel, and ensure the dog is never left chained, teased, or abused.

Failure to maintain proper veterinary and housing standards voids all health guarantees under this contract.

5. Temperament and Socialization

All Idaho GSP puppies leave our home with a sound, stable temperament. To preserve this, the Buyer agrees to:
- Provide consistent socialization with people, other dogs, and environments.
- Begin basic obedience training early and continue throughout the dog’s life.
- Provide daily mental stimulation and physical activity.

Neglect, isolation, or poor socialization can result in behavioral issues and void temperament guarantees.

6. Rehoming Policy

If, at any point, the Buyer cannot keep the dog:
- The Buyer must notify Idaho GSP.
- The dog may only be placed in a mutually approved home with breeder consent.
- Idaho GSP will assist in rehoming if requested.
- If the dog is sold, transferred, or given away without breeder approval, the Buyer agrees to pay a $1,500 breach-of-contract fee.

If all rehoming efforts fail, Idaho GSP will accept the dog back to ensure its welfare.

7. Legal Jurisdiction

This contract is binding between the original Buyer and Idaho GSP only. All legal proceedings shall be filed in Bingham County, Idaho. The Buyer agrees to pay all reasonable attorney’s fees and court costs incurred by Idaho GSP in enforcing this contract.

8. Entire Agreement

No other warranties, representations, or guarantees—expressed or implied—exist beyond those stated in this document. All terms are subject to change for future litters.
